Mechanical Pencil and Postcard
Many Lithuanian refugees of WWII reached Canada on ships that left Bremerhaven, Germany and sailed to Halifax, Nova Scotia. The "Scythia" had been a luxury liner in the 1920's, was converted to a troop and supply ship during WWII and in 1948 was given to the International Refugee Organization to transport refugees from Europe to Canada. Mementos from one Lithuanian passenger - a postcard and mechanical pencil.
