V16 Montreal, 1938
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Lithuania's Declaration of Independence (February 16, 1918), the Montreal Chapter of the Union for the Liberation of Vilnius (ULV) held a commemoration. The event included speeches, choral singing and a 6 part drama.
The ULV was formed in Kaunas in 1925 to support Lithuanian territorial claims to the Vilnius region. By 1937, there were 60 chapters operating internationally including the Montreal Chapter. By the fall of 1938, the organization dissolved and one year later, Lithuania regained Vilnius.
